Ripley Schools has had a lot of movement over the last couple of months. The completed Administration building has been handed over, and the classrooms are are the final stages and scheduled to be ready for the new school year. All building structures have been completed with fittings and commissioning currently underway which includes, lighting, power, various forms communications, fire and security with the help of our trusted Subcontractors on site. This project is fast approaching completion and is on time for handover in January 2020.
“Reticulation” the parts you don’t see. All these conduits are to be encased in a concrete slab, to provide integral pathways to points of connection and network services. This is just another level to the new student accommodation building at UTAS in Hobart. The Blue Star Pacific team have been working hard on this project for the last 6 months and are currently flying through the structure with estimated ‘top out’ to be February 2020. The team is confident they will deliver a high quality project to the clients.
Blue Star Pacific have been working on a two -story office fit-out located at 300 George Street. The final premises will house the Brisbane office of Urbis. Normally hidden above the ceiling tiles is a myriad of electrical, data and security cables, all interwoven within air-conditioning, fire sprinklers and other services. The Blue Star team are working hard to deliver the final work to the client in the new year.
Blue Star are proud sponsors of the Black Magic 7’s Rugby Team that played to the Grand Final at the Brisbane Rugby 7’s Carnival on the 16th of November. In the group stages of the carnival the Men’s team finished 1st on the ladder winning two games and drawing the third. They fought hard in the Semi -final round with two players falling injured. With a smaller bench the team dug deep scoring in the final 3 minutes of the game giving them the well-deserved win 17-12. Onward to the Grand Final. Members of the Blue Star Atlantic team recently dressed up as Bogans to attend the Bogan Bingo event hosted by the Pullman Hotel in support of charity. It was an awesome night with drinks, food and rounds of Bingo with all the proceeds going to the Accor Community Fund. The Fund is raising 1 million dollars to help create healthy families through several charities such as the Kokoda Youth Foundation, Lifeline, AIME, the Garvan Institute and the Australian Childhood Foundation.
Blue Star Pacific are proud to have secured the electrical D&C contract in relation to the construction of 2 new schools in South Ripley. This project is part of a multi-million dollar education precinct being built on a 14.4 hectare site. It will be transformed into two separate schools, a primary school and a high school, and will feature general learning areas, administration centers, lecture theaters, as well as dedicated spaces for performing arts, music, and sport. The primary school will cater for 1,000 students and the high school will cater for 1,500 students. Well what a project this has been to be involved with! Working closely with Hutchinson Builders we have together, along with all trades, been able to build a place which will be known in Brisbane as the new meeting place. Situated under the Story Bridge the location is filled with new restaurants, bars, a bespoke brewery, convention center, function rooms, 300+ space basement carpark, park lands and in the first quarter of next year, a 166 room Art Series Hotel. This will really join Brisbane City to Fortitude Valley and add an extra feature on the morning run/walk/riding trail. Members of Blue Star’s Senior Management team and their partners recently escaped the winter cold to soak up the beautiful sun and sand of Fiji at NECA’s 2018 National Electro-Technology Conference. The Conference program was loaded with engaging speakers, workshops on the theme of business improvement, a traditional Fijian Viti dinner and ended with a Bollywood themed Gala on the beach.
